Main
characteristic
The
lathe TE500 has been conceived to turn brake shoes on trucks, busses and
light commercial vehicles directly connected to the wheel hub, in
particular the brake shoes of the reduction hub axles (Europe Axles),
but on the conventional axles too.
The
turning of the brake shoes, with regards to the previously taken
internal diameter of the drum, allows to obtain a perfect matching
between shoes and drum for the full braking efficiency from the
beginning. The
operation is executed on the same direction of the wheel rotating
direction in order to compensate eventual clearances.
Moreover,
it is extremely easy and fast the positioning of the lathe on the
wheel hub.
Centering
to the hub
TE500
has
to be centered to the wheel hub by means of small centering blocks positioned on the connecting aluminum
bell. Diameter and shape of the different sets of small
centering blocks is related to the characteristics of the
vehicle’s wheel hub.
The
lathe is centered and clamped to conventional axles hubs, with or
without internal bearing mounted,
by means of some specific adaptors.
The
intermittent feeding
The
intermittent feeding acts on the displacement of the tool-holder
group and it allows the tools to engrave parallels circles on the
brake shoes surface. We
avoid in this way the formation of the classical spiral effect on
the turned surface which is the main responsible of the axial
displacement of the brake shoes and of their early wear and tear.
Other
characteristics
-
The
rotating body, performed in one only "strongly nerved"
aluminium alloy casting, ensures extreme stiffness and at the
same time contains at minimun the rotating masses.
-
The
rotating body turns upon a real hardened and ground steel drive
shaft, supported by 2 great sized bearings lubrificated by
permanent life grease (periodical maintenance operations free).
-
The
centering bell, entirely steel performed, grants the maximum
stiffness to the whole assembly and reduces at minimum the wear
of the parts in contact with the various hubs.
-
The
tool-holder group is equipped with a micrometric head, that
allows the direct reading of the working diameter, and with a
double insert pivoting tool.
-
The
lathe is mounted on a balancing support, which is placed on two
gas springs and the whole assembly is mounted on a trolley.
This solution allows an easier and quick connection to
the hub of the vehicle.
